HELLO EVERYONE 

Welcome to this month’s newsletter! We hope that you have had a great Easter break! 

Leena Grocers: We are sad to announce that after 39 years selling groceries on Dorset Road, Leena Grocers will be closing at the end of May. Aruna and Dinesh Patel have decided that the time has come for them to retire. We would like to say a big thank you for the service that they have provided for the local community for nearly four decades. 

Aruna and Dinesh will be greatly missed by the local community. We wish them a happy retirement, and all the best for the future. If you are passing by the shop, please go in and wish them well. 

Planning application: We are currently waiting for a date for the planning application to be heard at committee. Once this is confirmed you will receive a letter to tell you when this is and how you can take part. If you have any questions about the planning application you can contact us on the details below or pop into the drop in sessions held every Tuesday. 

We are pleased to let you know that on the 20th March Lambeth’s Planning Application Committee resolved to grant full planning permission, for 84 new homes on Knight’s Walk Estate and granted outline planning permission for the wider masterplan for the Westbury Estate. 

Drop -in Sessions: We are holding our weekly drop-ins at 2 Broadstone House on Tuesdays. Please note that we are reverting back to the previous time slot of 3.30pm - 6.30pm every Tuesday. If you are unavailable at this time, please feel free to contact us for a home visit at your convenience.

Hello everyone –I hope you had a great Easter Break. 

Weekly Drop-in 

As a reminder, we provide a drop-in for all residents to come and speak to the Development Team about your housing options, including what will happen when it is time to move, your options as a homeowner or tenant and an overview of the regeneration. 

At the moment Drop-in’s take place every Tuesday at the community hub at: 

No. 2 Broadstone House, Dorset Road, SW8, between 3.30pm – 6.30pm 

Feel free to pop in – no appointment needed. 

Resident Homeowner Meetings 

As promised in our March newsletter, meetings were held at no.2 Broadstone House on 17th and 18th April to support resident homeowners wanting more information about their housing options and the regeneration of South Lambeth estate. 

Items discussed included: 

  • What is Homes for Lambeth – how does it differ from LB Lambeth? 
  • Your Lease and Tenancy Agreement 
  • Cost of the new properties 
  • Service Charges in the new homes 
  • The Buy Back process 
  • What is zero rent and rent shared ownership? 

 

Officers working on the development of South Lambeth were in attendance to respond to homeowner queries. I hope that residents who attended found the meetings useful. We will share the feedback from the sessions in the next edition of the newsletter.

WORK EXPERIENCE OPPORTUNITY 

Airey Miller is a company working in many areas of construction and with Lambeth Council, helping with their estates regeneration. We are offering a 2-week summer holiday work experience placement to a student (years 10, 11 and 12), living in Lambeth, to open your eyes to the diverse world of construction. 

Your placement will be in our London Victoria office. We will also offer an oyster card for travel and lunch will be provided daily throughout the placement.
