Site works update and upcoming works
Site 1 works update
We have completed the piling works (foundations) on the site using two different types of piling rigs because of the natural slope running through site. On 13th May we commenced the start of the basement dig and installing the sub-structure for the basement. This will see large amounts of earth removed from site and concrete floor slabs, wall and structural beams installed.
Site 2 works update
As with site 1, we have completed our piling works and removed all the machinery from site.
On the 13th May we will begin the installation of the site drainage and the start of the dig for the tops of the pile caps to install our lower ground floor slab.
Site 3 works update
We have been working on the installation of our project offices and welfare facilities. The facilities provided for our operatives will include drying/ changing rooms, canteen, offices and store rooms. This will enable our operatives to eat, change and work comfortably whilst completing this project.
Look out for further updates from St James on the progress of Westbury phase 1 in future newsletters.
Lollard Street Visits
As mentioned in previous newsletters, Homes for Lambeth has now taken management of its first 70 council level rent homes at Lollard Street in Kennington.
At the moment, residents are moving into these homes via a local lettings plan and through the councils Choice Based Lettings scheme.
Last week, we had a successful open house event to show residents and councillors around the new homes. They had the opportunity to see what the first Homes for Lambeth look like as well as the new public spaces, which had been built as a part of the development. It is open to all residents.
Feedback on these new homes was positive. We also captured lots of comments, which Homes for Lambeth can look at for future houses. This included comments around the space left for people to put in their own cookers and fridges in the kitchens and the fixtures and fittings in the bathrooms.
News from the Independent Advisors
We hope you and your families are well. The construction works are now well underway, and we’ve been checking in with residents on a regular basis to offer advice and support and find out whether the works are causing any issues for residents. Over the last month we’ve also been working closely with several leaseholders and visiting tenants to make sure everyone is up to date with information about the regeneration, and how the allocations process for the new homes will work. We’ve also been speaking with the residents in the old Westbury pub. We are also planning some events and drop-ins for the summer so watch this space.
We’ll be out and about visiting residents on the following dates:
Wednesday 29th May – Afternoon session
Saturday 1st June – Morning session
Tuesday 11th June – Afternoon session
Please get in touch if you’d like a home visit on any of the above dates. Feel free to call us if you are happy to get advice over the phone.
