We have started a skill swap on Westbury Estate and encourage residents to share their skills with some beautiful results.
This January we started to talk to residents about their existing skills, skills they might like to share and skills they would like to gain. We wanted to start thinking about what residents and neighbour’s skills, interests and passions are; and whether they would want to take part or run a session relating to these at No.7 Fovant Court.
We wanted to think about this in relation to the Commercial Space in Block E and talk about what activities people might want to see happening on the estate and try these out at a smaller scale in No. 7. We had lots of suggestions including craft activities, gardening, exercise, basic DIY and book clubs amongst other things.
In February Wendy led a card making activity showing us the basics in collage and composition to create cards for. It feels extra special to receive a homemade card and Wendy will be running another session in the coming months so watch this space for details.
In March Maxine led a flower arranging activity using a mixture of foliage from around the estate, flowers from a florist, upcycled jam jars and some gorgeous crafty bows and string to create posies. The perfect little pick me up to give to somebody special.
If you would like to run a session or help suggest an activity or just find out more about what is happening then get in touch with firstname.lastname@example.org or 0800 0720 265. We would particularly love to hear from anyone who has some experience of Tai Chi as this is something we have had a few enquiries about.
A team of green fingered neighbours will be leading on a spring clean of the No. 7 garden and planting out crops for this year. RSVP here if you would like to attend or just pop by and see what we are up to.
Resident Chef Alessandra will be running a session on making homemade bruschetta on the 11th April. RSVP here if you would like to attend.
