It has been a few months since activities happened here on the Central Hill Estate. So, in this edition, we’d like to highlight a new set of activities to help us get back and stay in touch with you. Even in this environment of unprecedented life changes, we’d like to share news on training and activities that following government advice on social distancing.


Virtual College

Homes for Lambeth has started a new partnership with the Virtual College as we launch a series of online training courses which will be free to access for Central Hill Estate residents and can be undertaken from home during our support for social distancing.

Available from 20 April 2020 you can become a student enrolled in:

  • Nutrition and hydration
  • Completing application forms
  • Get moving, get healthy

Currently, as this is a new programme, you can only enrol on one course. Places are limited. More information on these courses can be seen on the Virtual College website: www.virtual-college.co.uk.

Yoga Sessions

We are really pleased to be able to offer some gentle yoga to residents on all of our estates and are excited to be working with qualified instructor and Lambeth resident Claire Hawkins www.clairehawkins.co.uk to deliver these online workshops through April.

• Wednesdays at 2pm – Seated yoga webinar. You can either phone in and listen or watch if you use Skype.

• Saturdays at 1.30pm – Yoga at home live YouTube broadcast.

Resident drop in sessions

Our resident drop-in sessions are still running - just not in person!

Coronavirus Response

Following the Government’s advice on social distancing and protecting the most vulnerable, we have suspended all consultations, meetings and drop-in sessions. This period started from Tuesday 17 March 2020. We want to continue to liaise with you and offer appropriate activities and signposting to support now the nation has been asked to remain at home.

Homes for Lambeth Business Plan

Our latest business plan, covering our detailed programme of work 2020 to 2023 was published last month and outlines what will be delivered over the next three years.

Building great relationships with you is crucial for us to become the exemplary landlord you deserve. We will work alongside you, provide you with the information you need, create a dialogue, listen to feedback and provide excellent customer service. It also means supporting you while your new homes are being built and when you have moved into your new home.

Roman Rise Update 

As residents will have seen we have cancelled our public exhibition on Roman rise, the nature of this engagement has to be determined by government advice, this rules out face-to face interaction with residents. You will have received a letter outlining how we aim to gather the feedback of as many residents as possible whilst making taking part as easy and stress-free as possible.

You will have the opportunity to provide comments on our proposals via the following routes:

• Calling a free phone number
• Write in with comments
• Completing an online survey
• Emailing in comments

Update from Homes for Lambeth CEO

Hello, my name is Jitinder Takhar. I am Chief Executive Officer at Homes for Lambeth. Always an exciting and dynamic environment to work in, my role is to co-ordinate staff effort, collaborate with Lambeth Council and provide information to the Board to ensure they can guide and monitor the organisation effectively.

Our vision at Homes for Lambeth is to build thriving communities and better futures for our residents. In the current environment we will be working harder than ever over the coming months to deliver our business plan commitments and provide you with a wide and diverse range of community activities, training and opportunities. This will involve different ways of communicating with you as we must all follow social distancing guidance.

We have already provided routes to interact over the internet, such as online yoga as well as using the more usual post and telephone to keep in touch.

I joined the organisation in autumn 2019 and want to bring my skills to bear and make a difference to people’s lives by nurturing talent at all levels - whether staff, at board level or with you as a resident.

What would I like to achieve here at Homes for Lambeth? To help build communities and homes that stand the test of time.
