Meet Lauren our Resident Engagement Support Apprentice

We spoke to Lauren, our Resident Engagement Support apprentice, to see how she's finding her first month at Homes for Lambeth and what she expects to achieve in her role.

What attracted you this apprenticeship?

I have always been interested in being able to help people as well as kickstart my career. I felt that this apprenticeship would move me in the right direction.

What made you choose Homes for Lambeth?

I have been a Lambeth resident for most of my life – I was excited to find this opportunity to give back to my community.

Tell us about your team and role.

I work in the Resident Engagement teams. If they have any issues, we are their first point of contact and prepare regular engagement events to ensure they are up to date with changes to their estate and to improve their wellbeing.

What does an average day look like for you at HFL?

An average day at Homes for Lambeth would include meetings with the Resident Engagement Officers to understand our work in our estates and engaging with the communications team on upcoming events. Days are never the same which is very exciting.

What has been the most challenging thing so far?

The most challenging thing has been trying to absorb a lot of new information at once and getting used to new software.

Why was an apprenticeship the right path for you?

I love to work - at Sixth Form I decided university was not for me. I was keen to start my career and understand what the working world is like.

Why should someone consider an apprenticeship at HFL?

It's an amazing opportunity. The team will support you through anything and they genuinely want the best for you. At Homes for Lambeth, your role is just as significant as everybody else in the business which prepares you for your future career.

What were you doing before your apprenticeship?

Before my apprenticeship I was worked in sales. It wasn’t for me - but it did teach me a lot of skills that I have found useful at Homes for Lambeth.

Where would you like to be in the future?

In the future I would like to work in real estate, so this is the perfect opportunity for me as I can learn more about housing. I aspire to be a very successful entrepreneur and give back to my community.
