Independent Advisor Update

Hello everyone, 2020 was a challenging year for all of us. COVID-19 has shown us that we are all connected and must support each other. My hope is that despite all the hardship we have experienced in 2020, 2021 will be a time for reflection, renewal, and re-growth.

As a social tenant, you may be looking forward to your new homes but may have questions about information such as future living costs. As a homeowner, you may have questions about whether you want to remain on the estate through the rebuild or whether to move elsewhere.

Whatever your concerns, please remember that we are here to offer independent advice, and what you discuss with us will be completely confidential. We will offer advice through newsletters, and residents phone drop-ins every Tuesday from 4 to 5pm. We hope to resume our services at the Green Shop, pending government guidelines.

If you have an issue you wish to discuss or require an update on the regeneration contact Yvonne Williams on 0744 582 3726 or [email protected]

Monday Monthly Social Chat

After the successful Brew Monday event on 18 January, your Resident Engagement Officers wish to continue this initiative by having regular monthly events. Residents will have the opportunity to have a chat with us and other residents from all estates.

Our previous event saw residents joining with Homes for Lambeth’s engagement team to chat, share their favourite film suggestions and connect with other Lambeth residents.

We would love for you to join our next monthly Monday social chat! These will be held at 2 to 3pm on:

  • Monday, 22 February
  • Monday, 22 March
  • Monday, 19 April

Community Champion

Within our community, we have residents who have hearts that are full of gold and kindness. They are heroes among us that are making a difference, and they deserve to have their stories told.

We want to celebrate our residents who are doing extraordinary things, by volunteering, caring for others, fundraising and much more!

Meet our Community Champion, Rose. She has lived on South Lambeth Estate for 43 Years. In 2002, Rose developed Breast Cancer and after treatment, she was feeling down with depression. She decided to take up making and creating greetings cards as a distraction and then sold those cards she made to raise money for Breast Cancer Care.

In 2018, unfortunately, Rose’s cancer returned, however, she was not to be deterred, as she took up her card making hobby again while taking treatment, and decided to raise money for another charity!

Rose has never given up and despite the challenges, she has faced. Using her creativity to help change the lives of others and keep herself active.
During February half term, Rose will be providing a fun online Crafts Workshop, making greetings cards, gift tags and bookmarks on :

  • Thursday 18 February, 10 to 11 am

Materials are provided, please contact Wendy, [email protected] ahead of the session to receive your craft pack.

If you know of someone in your community that you would like to nominate as our next Community Champion, please get in touch with your Resident Engagement Officer, Maxine on 07588 561 771 or [email protected]

Your Homes for Lambeth

I’m Sarah, the new Community Development Apprentice at Homes for Lambeth. I focus on supporting the Social Investment team in providing activities related to health and wellbeing for our residents including Digital Support sessions, Yoga and much more. .

I have a previous background in working in Youth Programmes, and I am proud that I have managed to make a difference to the lives of young people by showcasing their talent and potential.

Outside of work, I am currently taking on a new challenge as I started ‘Couch to 5k’. I am still on Week 3, but aiming to be able to run the full 5k soon!

I am looking forward to meeting many of our residents of all ages as soon as I can, and work with you all to successfully provide you with meaningful activities and events throughout my time at HFL.
