The Key Guarantees in action - helping people find the home they need

To reduce uncertainty to people living in properties on the Estate Regeneration programme, the Council has published a set of 'Key Guarantees' for tenants and homeowners.

While the Council wants to keep communities together, and the Key Guarantees explicitly state that any tenant that wishes to stay on the estate can, the Key Guarantees also give tenants the right to bid for a new home under the Choice Based Letting scheme with a high priority for a new property.

At the moment across the 5 estates where the Key Guarantees have come into effect following a Cabinet decision, some tenants have been registering for a transfer and some tenants are starting to move. In most cases, tenants have moved to other homes in Lambeth. While the reasons people have registered for a transfer are as varied as the people themselves, there are a number of common themes including older people who can't manage the stairs to and inside their current home, families that require larger properties and those that want to move closer to family or friends.

Below are the stories from people who have used the Key Guarantees to move to a home that suits their needs - we will add more here over time.

Organising everything.

What will you miss about your current home?

I won't miss the stairs outside! It's always been handy though- with the park next door and school close by.

What are you looking forward to about your new home?

Having a garden! Also as I am moving for health reasons, I am looking forward to not having so many steps to my front door and between the kitchen, bathroom and lounge.
