Dear Resident,

Re: South Lambeth Phase 1- Tower crane

We are writing to make you aware that we will be installing a tower crane from 25 February 2021. We are aiming to complete the work within a couple of days provided there are no adverse weather conditions.

Below you can see a plan showing the location of the crane, which will be in situ until the later stages of the project.

Cranes are used for lifting heavy materials and transporting them to other places, like a jigsaw puzzle a tower crane is erected in pieces. The various components are delivered on transport trucks and assembled utilising a mobile crane (see the diagram below). The tower is first constructed, followed by the turn table and cab, then the jib and counter jib are hoisted and attached. Lastly the counterweights and cables are installed to complete the build.

Rest assured the crane will not be carrying any materials over pedestrian footpaths or walkways and will not be lifting any material over Wimborne House as this is a lift free zone . It is also fitted with an anti-collision device which automatically stops the crane in the event of any operator oversight or error.

If you require any further information, please contact Courtney Rollings our Resident Liaison Officer on the freephone number 0800 032 6760 or by email at [email protected]

Yours faithfully
