Homes for Lambeth has started a new partnership with the Virtual College as we launch a series of online training courses which will be free to access for Westbury Estate residents and can be undertaken from home during our support for social distancing.
Available from 20 April 2020 you can become a student enrolled in:
- Nutrition and hydration
- Completing application forms
- Get moving, get healthy

Currently, as this is a new programme, you can only enrol on one course. Places are limited. More information on these courses can be seen on the Virtual College website: www.virtual-college.co.uk.
We are really pleased to be able to offer some gentle yoga to residents on all of our estates and are excited to be working with qualified instructor and Lambeth resident Claire Hawkins www.clairehawkins.co.uk to deliver these online workshops through April.
• Wednesdays at 2pm – Seated yoga webinar. You can either phone in and listen or watch if you use Skype.
• Saturdays at 1.30pm – Yoga at home live YouTube broadcast.

Resident drop in sessions
Our resident drop-in sessions are still running - just not in person!

Following the Government’s advice on social distancing and protecting the most vulnerable, we have suspended all consultations, meetings and drop-in sessions. This period started from Tuesday 17 March 2020. We want to continue to liaise with you and offer appropriate activities and signposting to support now the nation has been asked to remain at home.

Resident Engagement Panel (REP)
Unfortunately, the meetings of the resident engagement panel are currently postponed. We are exploring different ways for these meetings to re-start as online conferences / webinars whilst we all follow government advice to remain in our homes. We hope to update you very soon.
Homes for Lambeth Business Plan
Our latest business plan, covering our detailed programme of work 2020 to 2023 was published last month and outlines what will be delivered over the next three years.

It also means supporting you while your new homes are being built and when you have moved into your new home.
Your Westbury Contractors - St James
St James is continuing work at Westbury (at the time of this newsletter going to print 06 April 2020), and have put in place stringent social distancing measures. These measures are regularly reviewed, and St James will continue to follow Government advice.
They have also halved their workforce reducing the footfall onto the estate and are providing private transport to protect their staff.

Update from Homes for Lambeth CEO
Hello, my name is Jitinder Takhar. I am Chief Executive Officer at Homes for Lambeth. Always an exciting and dynamic environment to work in, my role is to co-ordinate staff effort, collaborate with Lambeth Council and provide information to the Board to ensure they can guide and monitor the organisation effectively.
Our vision at Homes for Lambeth is to build thriving communities and better futures for our residents. In the current environment we will be working harder than ever over the coming months to deliver our business plan commitments and provide you with a wide and diverse range of community activities, training and opportunities. This will involve different ways of communicating with you as we must all follow social distancing guidance.
We have already provided routes to interact over the internet, such as online yoga as well as using the more usual post and telephone to keep in touch.
I joined the organisation in autumn 2019 and want to bring my skills to bear and make a difference to people’s lives by nurturing talent at all levels - whether staff, at board level or with you as a resident.
