The buildings on both sites have progressed well, with brickwork nearly complete and connection of utilities in preparation for commissioning.
Building C2 (corner of Wandsworth Road and St Rule Street)
The scaffolding is continuing to come down on building C2, you can now see the window and balcony finishes.
The sprinkler installation has been completed to the new homes. The extensive works have now advanced, enabling the decoration of new homes to commence. The larger water tank has been installed along with the necessary connections.
Permanent power supply has also been achieved, with lights now on in the apartments. Gas is also now available following the installation of the meter.
Scaffold remains up on the north and south elevations level 2 and 3 respectively, whilst the balconies are completed. The west elevation scaffold remains for access.
Building E (corner of Wandsworth Road and Portslade Road)
Brickwork has now reached the top of the building, achieving an important milestone.
Waterproofing to the balconies has progressed, enabling works on the balconies to commence.
Internally, the new homes are continuing with the installation of the bathrooms, kitchens, flooring, internal doors and tiling, following the delivery of the kitchens and doors to the lower floors.
Windows are continuing to be installed, progressing the outer works of the building at the earliest opportunity.
The roof waterproofing has also been completed.

We hope you and your families are keeping well during these difficult times. Due to Covid-19 restrictions we have been unable to visit you in person but look forward to seeing you when we are able to do so. We are speaking to residents regularly via telephone.
We are working with Homes for Lambeth and the Council to make sure that residents’ questions are answered and to ensure that you have all the information you need before the upcoming move.

The REP meetings are still taking place to discuss key issues regarding the Phase 2 rebuilding of the wider Westbury estate, including the current construction of Phase 1 and the moving process for residents moving into Phase 1 in 2021.

SOCIAL HOUSING POLICY DISCUSSION
Samantha Herelle, Director of Operations at Homes for Lambeth will lead the discussion on the recommendations from the government’s social housing white paper and how this will lead to thriving communities on HFL estates and sites.

NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP WEEK
Homes for Lambeth’s employability team are hosting two online events to promote National Apprentice Week, 8 to 12 February 2021.
This will give you an opportunity to find out about current apprenticeship, job and training opportunities with the Berkeley Group, Homes for Lambeth, Lambeth Council and the Metropolitan Police.
These events are taking place on:

WESTBURY PHASE 1 SITE VISIT
On 10 December 2020, Westbury residents, Homes for Lambeth staff and Lambeth Councillors had their first opportunity to step inside the construction site of Westbury Phase1 to view the emerging new homes at site C2. Guided social distanced tours were given by St. James Site Manager, Simon Williams.
Further visits will be arranged to site Block E in March; this is permitting that current lockdown restrictions have eased. All decant residents will have an opportunity to visit their new homes.
MONDAY MONTHLY SOCIAL CHAT
After the successful Brew Monday event on 18 January, your Resident Engagement Officers wish to continue this initiative by having regular monthly events. Residents will have the opportunity to have a chat with us and other residents from all estates.
Our previous event saw residents joining with Homes for Lambeth’s engagement team to chat, share their favourite film suggestions and connect with other Lambeth residents.

YOUR HOMES FOR LAMBETH
I’m Meena Ikomi, the new Communications Apprentice at Homes for Lambeth. I focuson supporting my team in providing efficient communications for HFL. This includes drafting news stories, working on the websites and much more. I also have a fascination for films and music in languages. Having grown up in a very diverse and cultural area, I am always looking for something new and intriguing.
Although I cannot do this right now due to COVID-19, I also love to travel and meet people. As a Lambeth resident, I am very proud to have gotten this role. I attended HFL’s CV and
interview workshops, which helped with my confidence and understanding of how I could prepare. Once the apprenticeship is complete, I expect to have a further understanding of
communications and digital marketing in a company.
